Feast of the Chair of St. Peter

While the emphasis in modern times has been on the spiritual chair of St. Peter and the teaching office of the papacy, nevertheless, there is an ancient throne within the ornate design crafted by Bernini in St. Peter's Basilica. It dates from c. 800 AD and played a role in papal coronations for many years.
