Holy Cross School Mass on Friday for the Opening of the Academic Year

Catholic-clip-art

Tomorrow morning at 9 AM in the gymatorium, we will celebrate mass with the school children and faculty to officially inaugurate the opening of the school year. This is also our usual daily mass, so parishioners are, of course invited as well. We hope  that many of our school parents will be able to pray with us Friday morning.

Remember the song, "We're all in our places with sunshiny faces...?"  So far, the opening of school has gone smoothly except for a few glitches - school bus problems and the like. But it won't be long before everyone settles into a smooth routine and the bumps are smoothed out.

Principal and Holy Cross Faculty Gather for Mass

Holy Spirit

This morning at the 9 AM mass, our Holy Cross Faculty and Mr. Bill Belluzzi, our new principal, gathered for the celebration of the Mass. It was great seeing old and new faces alike. When the teachers all come together, their impressive numbers remind us how many faculty and employees labor to make Holy Cross School such a special place.

Fr. Manning asked for the continued insiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit on all our faculty and for the Christian virtue of Hope to undergird all our efforts.

Tomorrow the children are welcomed to the school, beginning with half day sessions.

Welcome Back and Let's Go

Amazingly it's the Labor Day Weekend already. It's beginning to seem like Memorial Day and Labor Day are part of the same three day weekend, the summer flies so quickly. The parish staff have been busy preparing for the start of the Religious Education year; check the bulletin or parish website for the many important events coming up.

On Tuesday, September 4th, our principal Mr. Bill Belluzzi and the Holy Cross School faculty will join our parish community for the 9 AM mass in the Church. It will be exciting to become acquainted with several new faculty and staff and to begin our year by being nourished by the Eucharist and asking for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Sadly, Mrs. Susan O'Keefe's health has taken a turn for the worse and she will not be rejoining us this fall as she had hoped; please pray for Susan. We will, however, have two new Second Grade teachers, a new Fourth Grade teacher, an art teacher, Mr. Alyn Heim will return to teach music and three former full-time faculty members will be returning to serve as librarians and reading tutor.

On our parish feast day, The Exaltation of the Holy Cross, we will make an important appeal to all our parishioners to lend their voices to Holy Cross. The parish is blessed with many volunteers, and this weekend we will ask parishioners to especially consider serving God by becoming Readers or Choir Members. Mr. Don Carolina, our new Music Director, will speak at all the masses to renew and rejuvenate our adult choir - always a timely effort, but especially since we have gone so many months without a permanent Music Director. Don's talent and expertise will be evident and his enthusiasm will be contagious!

Our Youth Ministry welcomes a new Associate Director, Matt Butler, who will be joining us along with Mr. Feerst at the 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM masses on September 22nd to introduce himself and invite high school age parishioners to become involved in the exciting activities he, our Directors Mr. Feerst and his assistants Ms. Amy Evans and Linda Delaney are busy planning.
