My favorite. I was so nervous in the lift that I didn't notice the sun break through the clouds after the statue was crowned and we began the "Hail Mary!"
To mark the 5th anniversary of our Blessed Mother's Statue on the Carriage House looking over our parish, we crowned the Blessed Mother on this celebration of her Assumption into Heaven.
We were surely looking heavenward as Fr. Manning was raised alongside the statue to affix her crown and lead the congregation in praying the "Hail Mary." The crown was woven of roses, rosemary and lavender.
In keeping with ancient tradition, parishioners were given bundles of lavender, some intermixed with marigolds to take home as a reminder of Mary's day.
May Mary's intercession and maternal solicitude guide our parish in the Way of the Lord.
