This year the Feast of the Sacred Heart concludes the Year of the Priest proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI last year. At today's mass, we blessed an icon of the Sacred Heart for veneration at tomorrow's mass after I pointed out a few symbols and characteristics of the icon to our congregation which included the 2nd grade, our recent new communicants. They were attentive and prayerful and had so many good observations about the icon.
